Active Cues B. V. is the holding company set up in 2015 to acquire active in the Software development sector. The company, managed by Hester le Riche (PhD), has 50 employees and is based in Utrecht.

The company’s main activity is:

• The sale of hardware and development of digital games for elderly with dementia, people with learning disabilities and children with small and big challenges. Active Cues was founded in 2015 to market The Tovertafel which has been developed by CEO Hester Le Riche during a PhD research project at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. , The Tovertafel hangs from the ceiling and projects interactive light animations on the table that respond to hand and arm movements. It runs various serious games that activate and support (personal) development and interaction. The customers are provided with a premium service to support implementation and the Magic Tables run on one cloudbased platform with software packages (games) for different target groups. The basis and continued development of the Tovertafel are based on scientific research and the effects are proven with intervention studies. During the development and research of the products, AC collaborates together with leading universities around the world (NL, USA, UK, CAN). Also, all products are codesigned with clients, industry experts and family members of the patients to maximize relevancy for the patients.

The Tovertafel is currently used in more than 3000 nursing homes in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Project Description

The company requests 1,200,000 € to finance stock of the Tovertafel for further international roll-out, and development of software content (games). The strong market demand for the Tovertafel is driving the growth of Active Cues. Last year the company has strenghtened their organisation to support the anticipated growth. Active Cues is highly motivated to continue their positive social impact by supplying as many care homes as they can. Besides the financial return, this is a project with a clear positive social impact. This project will be realised by the end of the year.

This project is a Flexible Bridge Loan, an amortizable loan with a standard commitment for the first 9 months and the possibility of early repayment at no cost for the remainder of the loan term, even in the event of refinancing by other financial institutions.

The amount offered on the platform is limited to 857500€, which is in line with the regulatory limits.
